one of the main maceral groups for humic coal, which are those coals formed predominantly from woody or sedge/reed plant remains. Humic coals tend to form in moist, aerobic zones within a mire, through the process of peatification. Inertinite has a varied origin, including fire, biochemical or microbial, and oxidation origins. Specific macerals of the inertinite group inlcude fusinite, funginite, secretinite, and micrinite (to name a few)
